Phoenix City Councilwoman Betty Guardado invites the community to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day at the 5th Annual El Grito Celebration on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 4:00pm to 11:00pm in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
One of Arizona’s largest and most anticipated Hispanic cultural celebrations, El Grito has welcomed nearly 20,000 attendees and returns this year bigger than ever with an unforgettable day of music, culture, food, family fun, and fireworks.
Headlining this year’s celebration are two legendary regional Mexican bands, La Original Banda Maguey and Banda Mach de Pepe Guardado, pioneers of the iconic quebradita sound. The official El Grito Ceremony will feature the Banda de Guerra Bomberos Nogales, honoring one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions.
The celebration will be hosted by Ericka Sanchez “La Pochita” and Humberto Luna “El Vaquero Pelotero.” Festivalgoers will also enjoy performances by Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company and Mariachi Continental Azteca, along with lucha libre and DJ La Pachanga.
Guests can explore nearly 100 vendor booths featuring authentic Mexican cuisine, artisan vendors, community organizations, and local businesses. From tacos, tamales, aguas frescas, margaritas, and micheladas to handmade crafts and family activities, there will be something for everyone.
General admission is $5. Children 12 and under are free. Guests must be 21 or older with valid photo ID to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.
